The Asian Cup 2025, which was won by India, their ninth time as the trophy is the most won in the history of the tournament, was marred by the trophy scandal that followed the final held in Dubai. Suryakumar Yadav and team who beat Pakistan in the summit clash on September 28 were left waiting to take home the trophy, yet a row erupted in the presentation. The matter has now become the point of debate in the Asian Cricket Council meeting, which was conducted on September 30.

Rajeev Shukla, BCCI Vice President, who attended the meeting, was questioning Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the ACC and head of PCB over his actions. India refused to collect the trophy in the presence of Naqvi and as a rebound, he returned the cup to his hotel room as opposed to delivering it to the real winners. Shukla clarified that the winning team owns the trophy and not any individual and as such, the trophy should be given to the Indian players with due respect.
Controversy Overshadows India’s Hard-Fought Victory

The verdict is yet to be arrived at; however, the incident has left a dark stain on what was otherwise a glorious victory for Team India. Meanwhile, as the players continue to celebrate their hard-fought win on the field, fans across the country eagerly await the moment when the team finally holds the trophy they truly deserve.
Moreover, the controversy has prompted many to insist that the ACC should take action to resolve the issue and, consequently, grant India the moment of glory they have earned.
