Tilak Varma became the second player to say that Pakistan were no match to India when skipper Suryakumar Yadav was quoted saying the same after they defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 three times. His knock in the final that enabled him to win the match displayed the pressure of being able to perform at the big stage.
Tilak Varma has confessed that he had a lot of responsibility on him but that he remained relaxed and focused on delivering the best to the team. He said that it was worth it to push himself to the limit with the bat and see India raise the trophy.

“I agree with what Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) bhai said, that it (Pakistan) is no competition. But we change our strategy from match to match. There indeed was pressure; a lot was going on in my mind. But the country is above everything else. India is at the top. So, I was determined to give everything for my country. I tried to be calm,” stated Tilak, as quoted by The Times of India.
“I knew that I will win the game. I was just thinking about my country and was focusing on one ball at a time. I backed myself to deliver for the country and I am so proud of it that I was able to do it successfully.”

The five-wicket victory of India over Pakistan in Dubai earned India the ninth title in the Asia Cup that had a long history of over 41 years. Tilak Varma became the Player of the Match after he scored 69 out of 53 balls without being dismissed, having made 3 fours and 4 sixes.
Entering at a rather difficult point, Tilak managed to hold the innings together with the help of Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube. His calmness during pressure earned him applause among former cricketers and the fans alike and he became a household name in the country after hitting a match-winner.
