Chris Woakes of England walks out to bat with his left arm in a sling on day five of the 5th Rothesay Test Match

Rishabh Pant recently commented on former England international Chris Woakes’ social media post after his international retirement. Woakes withdrew from all forms of international cricket on Monday, September 29, following a 14-year career with England.

The English all-rounder posted on X, announcing his choice and thanked everyone who had been a part of it. Although Woakes made no mention of Rishabh Pant, he did take the time to compliment his professional success with a funny twist.

“Happy Retirement Woakesy. You have been amazing on the field. Lots of discipline, a big smile and always good vibes. Now you can finally give that bowling arm a rest and my foot too 😂You definitely left a mark on me before retirement.😅Wishing you a fantastic journey ahead🤗,” Pant replied to the English cricketer’s retirement post.

Rishabh Pant’s remarks about Chris Woakes’ bowling arm and his foot related to the recent India-England Test series, which ended 2-2. Pant had fractured his foot off Woakes’ bowling in the fourth Test and, although he batted later in the innings, he was ruled out of wicketkeeping duties and missed the fifth Test.

Chris Woakes, however, hurt his left hand when preventing a boundary during the last Test. He was disqualified but on the final day, bravely appeared in the field with his hand in a sling, and was greeted with deafening applause. Even the former Indian cricketers praised his bravery.
