On the other hand, the Indian opener has performed very poorly on the first ODI in Perth on Sunday, October 19 when he was bowled out at eight off 14 balls.

Men in Blue lost the match in seven wickets according to the DLS system. It will now be hoping that the 38-year old makes a comeback in the second match after India hopes to keep itself alive in the series.

Rohit Sharma Escapes Early Run-Out as Australia Opts to Bowl First in 2nd ODI

Rohit Sharma of India makes his crease during game two in the One Day International series

Mitchell Marsh, the captain of Australia, won the coin and decided to bowl and invite India to put a target. India had a total of 264/9 in their 50 overs with Rohit Sharma leading with the highest score of 73 runs with 97 balls. Shreyas Iyer also added 61 and Axar Patel added 44. But Virat Kohli was sacked again, getting a second straight duck, off four balls by Xavier Bartlett on an LBW.

Australia started off on the wrong foot. Mitch Marsh was later sacked by Arshdeep Singh after struggling at the very beginning, putting Australia at 30/1. Travis Head was able to convey some motive as he hit a six against Siraj but was not very fluent against disciplined Indian bowling. By the 8th over, the score was 32/1.

Playing XI of both sides:
