India's Hardik Pandya (C) celebrates with teammates after taking a catch to dismiss Oman's Aamir Kaleem during the Asia Cup 2025

Wednesday, September 24, the Asia Cup Super Fours will take place between India and Bangladesh. The match will take place at the Dubai international cricket stadium in Dubai.

Contents
1. Abhishek Sharma (India) vs Taskin Ahmed (Bangladesh)2. Suryakumar Yadav (India) vs Mustafizur Rahman (Bangladesh)3. Towhid Hridoy (Bangladesh) vs Kuldeep Yadav (India)

Indian team led by Suryakumar Yadav has been performing well in the continental competition. This time they go into the match with a four match winning streak.

During the group stage, the Men in Blue beat Oman, Pakistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE). In the same venue, they overpowered Pakistan in a resounding six wicket margin to kick off their Super Fours campaign.

Bangladesh, on the other side, lost to Sri Lanka by six wickets but defeated Hong Kong and Afghanistan in the group stage. But in the first Super Fours match, they made apologies by defeating Sri Lanka by four wickets.

Shivam Dube’s twin strikes got India back into the game

In terms of head-to-head statistics, India is unquestionably ahead. In the 17 meetings between the two teams, they have won 16 of them; Bangladesh’s only victory was in November 2019.

India leads the Super Fours table with two points and a net run rate of 0.689 after one game. Despite having two points in a single game, Bangladesh is ranked third with a net run rate of 0.121.

On that topic, let’s look at the player battles to watch out for in the IND vs BAN 2025 Asia Cup match:

1. Abhishek Sharma (India) vs Taskin Ahmed (Bangladesh)

India’s Abhishek Sharma plays a shot during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four Twenty20 international cricket match

Abhishek Sharma has been the most threatening batter in the 2025 Asia Cup with his 173-run score across four innings at an incredible strike rate of above 200. His 74 out of 39 balls against Pakistan demonstrated how fast he can turn around a game as he was the winner of the Player of the Match award.

For Bangladesh, removing him early will be a top priority. Once set, Abhishek can take the match away with his fearless hitting, making him the biggest threat in India’s batting lineup.

Taskin Ahmed is likely to take on the challenge. He has five wickets in three games so far, though slightly expensive. Bangladesh may also consider bringing back Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who has dismissed Abhishek twice in the past.

2. Suryakumar Yadav (India) vs Mustafizur Rahman (Bangladesh)

Suryakumar Yadav also had a good year (717 runs in the 2025 IPL and has not yet stopped his run in the Asia Cup). His unbeaten 47 against Pakistan gave emphasis to his class though he had fallen cheaply in the first Super Fours match.

As captain, he will be eager to bounce back strongly. SKY’s ability to steady the innings or attack at will makes him India’s key man in the middle order.

Bangladesh will look to Mustafizur Rahman to counter him. The left-arm pacer has seven wickets in four games and has dismissed Suryakumar three times in T20s. His cutters and variations could test India’s skipper again.

3. Towhid Hridoy (Bangladesh) vs Kuldeep Yadav (India)

Kuldeep Yadav finished with four wickets, UAE vs India, Men’s T20 Asia Cup

Towhid Hridoy has been Bangladesh’s most consistent batter in the tournament, scoring 124 runs in four innings. His calm presence in the middle order has helped them post fighting totals.

However, he has shown some weakness against spin. He was dismissed twice by spinners in last year’s India series and has struggled regularly against slow bowling in T20Is.

Kuldeep Yadav could exploit that. The left-arm wrist-spinner has been the tournament’s top bowler so far with nine wickets in four matches and remains India’s biggest weapon in the middle overs.
