The T20 World Cup 2026 Team of India will not differ with that of the five match series of T20Is against New Zealand. World cup 20-over will be hosted on the subcontinent between February 7 and March 8.
ICC competitions are known to have teams that must submit their final squad of 15 players one month prior to the commencement of the event. The final team may undergo modifications by the selection panel but this has to be done before a deadline stipulated by the apex body.

According to a BCCI source familiar with the situation, the World Cup squad will dress similarly to that of the New Zealand series unless there are any injuries or other exceptional situations.
“With only 10 T20Is left before the T20 World Cup, you won’t see many changes happening in the squad proper unless someone is ruled out due to any specific injury. One of the biggest reasons being continuity and the 15 chosen for the series against the Black Caps won’t be tinkered with because of the short turnaround time,” stated the source, as quoted by NDTV Sports.

India Eyes Key Preparations Ahead of New Zealand T20 Tour
It is also believed that the series of five T20I against South Africa will be the last time that the head coach Gautam Gambhir and the T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav will be able to take a few players through their paces before the series against New Zealand. The five T20 will be a practice trial in the leading event.
It was following the same pattern as the BCCI had done with the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025. India was the convincing winner in both tournaments.

The five Twenty20 International matches against New Zealand will be played at Nagpur (January 21), Raipur (January 23), Guwahati (January 25), Vizag (January 28), and Trivandrum (January 31). Three One-Day Internationals will take place before the T20Is.
