In Thursday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar hit Rajasthan Royals (RR) opening batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi for 16 runs. On the opening delivery of the fifth over, the 14-year-old southpaw blasted the seasoned pacer for a top-edged six.
On the very next ball, though, the sly pacer defeated the young player by successfully knocking down the middle stump with the knuckleball, sending the left-hander back to the pavilion.

The opening pair of RR, Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal, got the visitors off to a fast start as they chased 206 runs for win. To lay the groundwork for the challenging chase, the two targeted Yash Dayal and Kumar, the RCB’s opening bowling tandem.
However, RCB’s victory at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in their opening IPL 2025 match was made possible by Suryavanshi’s wicket. A few balls later, Josh Hazlewood hit Jaiswal for 49 off 19 balls, giving the hosts even more cause to celebrate.
Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal power RCB to 205 for 5 after 20 overs
The first innings of the match began with Virat Kohli (70 runs in 42 balls) and Devdutt Padikkal (50 runs in 27 balls) scoring fifty runs as Royal Challengers Bangalore reached 205/5 before the 20 over mark. A 95-run stand between the pair established the base for the home team to surpass 200 runs in their batting total.
Tim David and Jitesh Sharma provided inactive finishes with their respective unbeaten partnerships of 23 runs from 20 balls and 20* runs from 10 balls just when RCB needed it to achieve their 200-plus total.
With skipper Riyan Parag and Nitish Rana at the crease, RCB was 99/2 after eight overs at the time of writing.
