In the T20 World Cup 2026 match between India and Zimbabwe, Brian Bennett, the opener of the Zimbabwe team, showed some impressive footwork to prevent the ball hitting the stumps. The Men in Blue opened the batting and posted a massive figure of 256/4 on the board.
In the run chase, Brian Bennett went out to open the batting with Tadiwanashe Marumani. Bennett nearly lost his wicket on the final ball of the fifth over, the one that Jasprit Bumrah threw. But his ability as a footballer rescued him at the hands of removal.

Jasprit Bumrah has nailed a yorker on the middle stump. Bennett did well to dig it out. But it was likely that the sent back ball would strike the stumps. The Zimbabwe batter proved to be conscious enough to turn and kick the ball away immediately with his right leg. Brian Bennett had been saved by a bit of sharp and impressive footwork.

Brian Bennett continues his solid run with the bat for Zimbabwe

Brian Bennett has had an outstanding T20 World Cup 2026 for Zimbabwe with the bat. He has played a significant part in their qualification for the Super 8s and some memorable wins.
The right-hander is their leading run scorer in the competition. Aside from India, he also got half centuries against Australia and Sri Lanka. He was unbeaten on 64 off 56 balls against Australia and 63 off 48 balls against Sri Lanka.
He was also impressive during the opener of the tournament against Oman, where he broke a record of 48 off 36 balls. His only bad result was when playing the West Indies, when he was sent home by a run-a-ball five.

Bennett has been so consistent in the competition as he is one of the best with the bat. He is also the record holder in individual score by a Zimbabwean batter in the history of T20 World Cup. The record was already broken by Sikandar Raza who achieved 82 against Ireland in the 2022 edition. Bennett defeated him and he is now 86 years undefeated.
