Reflecting on the game, India made 175/7 in their 20 overs. Ishan Kishan spearheaded the assault with a scintillating 77 from 40 balls, hitting 10 fours and three sixes for his strike rate of 192.50. The track was aiding the spinners, which made shot-making tough for Indian batters. Pakistan used spin liberally, bowling 18 overs of it in the innings. It was a Saim Ayub show with the ball as he ended up taking impressive figures of 3/25 in his quota of four overs. For India, Suryakumar Yadav (32) and Shivam Dube (27) got their team in a position to end the innings on a high.

India made it two wins from as many matches to open their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign following a win over the United States when they defeated Namibia in New Delhi into the bargain. Suryakumar captaining them, India also lead Group A; Pakistan too have been unbeaten in the group stage till week one, squeezing past Netherlands in a last-gasp finish before rolling over United States of America.
These Men in Blue are the current holders: they won T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa in the final played across West Indies and USA. They will be looking to win the tournament for a record third time and defend their crown. As for Pakistan, they will be aiming to get their hands on second T20 World Cup title.
