In a potentially significant decision, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will hold its annual conference in Edinburgh later this year on July 8-11, unless the situation changes. The decision regarding the venue was taken in a virtual board meeting held recently, while ICC Chairman Jay Shah will conduct the proceedings.
The conference will come immediately after the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in England on June 12 to July 5. According to an ICC progress report, members of the Internationals Cricket Conference (ICC), who are expected to attend the final at Lord’s, will head off to Scotland for the annual congregation.
The election of Associate Board Directors is one of the main agendas at the Edinburgh meet. The term is for two years and three representatives from Associate nations will be elected to the 17-member ICC Board. This is set to be followed by the contest between several big names from Associate cricket.

Those in line for contention include Rwanda Cricket Association head Stephen Musaale, Cricket Namibia president Rudie van Vuuren, Bermuda’s Neil Speight and USA’s Sankar Renganathan, as well as current Associate members of the Chief Executives’ Committee like Gurumurthy Palani. Current Associate Directors such as Mubashir Usmani, Mahinda Vallipuram and Deputy Chair Imran Khwaja are also set to feature in the wake.
The ICC, which recently held its board meeting online after the original dates of March 25-27 in Doha, Qatar were cancelled due to ongoing hostilities in West Asia.
