Punjab Kings won against Gujarat Titans in match 4 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur on March 31.
Chasing a modest target of 163; Punjab Kings-openers struggled for runs upfront and lost mostly Pryansh Arya in the initial overs. But wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh (37 of 24) and Australia’s young prodigy Cooper Connolly (72 off 44) added a strong partnership of 76 runs to set the tone of the chase.
PKS batter saga was like a one man show from the Aussie batter as no other PBKS batter could give him much support, the team struggling at one stage at 118/6. But Connolly kept his head and led his side over the line with a stunning knock on IPL debut, with the home side knocking off the target in 19.1 overs.

Earlier in the match, Gujarat Titans posted 162/6 in their allotted 20 overs — a total that promised a contest but ultimately fell short. Captain Shubman Gill anchored the innings with a steady 39 off 27 balls. Although Sai Sudharsan managed just 13 off 11 before departing, GT maintained a healthy scoring rate during the powerplay.
In the middle overs, Jos Buttler added a composed 38, while Glenn Phillips contributed a brisk 25 off 17 balls to keep the innings on track. However, just as Gujarat looked set to accelerate, they lost wickets at regular intervals, which stalled their momentum. Consequently, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia failed to provide the late surge, forcing GT to settle for a below-par total.

The bowlers were able to execute their plans effectively to keep the scoring in check, for Punjab Kings. Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick among the bowlers with figures of 2/28 in four overs, getting crucial breakthroughs at important junctures. Marco Jansen (1 wicket), and Vijaykumar Vyshak (3 wickets), who kept things tight, especially during the death overs also well supported him.
