In the 18th over of the India-England semi-final match in the T20 World Cup 2026, Jasprit Bumrah also provided one of the most important overs of the game as he bowled in the Wankhede Stadium on March 5. When England were threatening to steal the chase, Bumrah once again demonstrated how he is actually considered to be one of the best death bowlers in the world cricket.
As England was cruising and the swing of momentum went their way, Bumrah was given the role of bowling the 18 th over. He opened with a pinhole yorker to Sam Curran, and hit the blockhole and left no space to a big-shot. During the second delivery he had made again another yorker at the stumps, and Curran had only one.
The third ball fell upon Jacob Bethell, who was batting brilliantly. Bumrah threw an outer off dipping yorker, giving only one. The fourth delivery was a miss, a low full wicket, pads, which Curran clipped to midwicket, two runs. But Bumrah soon regained himself. Another complete delivery at the stumps gave the fifth ball only one to a mid-on.

To make it all, Bumrah delivered an impeccable yorker at the feet of Bethell. The left-hander was only able to squeeze it to midwicket and score one. The over, in total, only had six runs, which is actually quite impressive, given both the circumstances of the match and the necessity to play a high-scoring semi-final.
Prior to this, Bumrah also bowled a tight 16 th over that had only yielded eight runs. He bowed out with good statistics of 1/33 in his four overs, his mark was more than the figures. The stiff 18 th over greatly impaired the England momentum and impressed India with a strong grip over the battle.

Talking of the game, India had scored an imposing 253/7 in their 20 overs led by Sanju Samson who had smashed 89 off 42 balls. In the case of England, Will Jacks (2/40) and Adil Rashid (2/41) were some of the wickets. In response, Jacob Bethell ensured England did not die with a sensational 105 off 48 balls, and Hardik Pandya scored 2/38 which was critical during the close-run victory of India.
