On Thursday, March 05, legendary cricketer MS Dhoni attended the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, in the case of the India against England semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. Former India wicketkeeper-batter, who led the Men in Blue to win in the first edition of the tournament in 2007, was caught on the stands cheering the Suryakumar Yadav-led side. Also present to offer the assistance was his wife, Sakshi Dhoni.
Alongside Dhoni was Rohit Sharma, a former captain of India who won the 2024 T20 World Cup. Interestingly, Rohit is only the second skipper after Dhoni to win numerous ICC titles and serves as the brand ambassador for the current twenty-team competition.

In addition to the seasoned cricket players, members of the Indian film industry also showed their support for the Men in Blue. Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, and Abhishek Bachchan are among the most prominent attendees. Alongside other family members was Nita Ambani, a prominent manager at Reliance Industries Limited and co-owner of the Mumbai Indians IPL team.
India post thumping total on board

The Indian team scored a record 253 for the loss of seven wickets in the first innings, seemingly thanks to the support. Ishan Kishan (39 off 18) and Shivam Dube (43 off 25) both made significant contributions, but Sanju Samson was the master batsman, hitting a stunning 89 off 42. Hardik Pandya (27 off 12) supplied the final touch with a stunning cameo near the end of the innings.
Now its about executing our plans with the ball: Ishan Kishan

The support apparently contributed to the fact that the Indian team scored a record 253 on the loss of seven wickets in the first innings. Ishan Kishan (39 off 18) contributed heavily as well as Shivam Dube (43 off 25) but Sanju Samson was the genius batsman, with a spectacular 89 off 42. The final touch was provided by Hardik Pandya (27 off 12) who gave a beautiful cameo towards the end of the innings.
“When I went in, Sanju got boundaries. Pitch looked flat. Knew we needed a good total. Had to get momentum going. He batted in a way that left me little to do. We have to bowl well on this pitch. The plan was clear – if the ball is there, go for it. You have to believe in your strength, now it’s about executing plans with ball. Every player would agree that crowd cheering gives us confidence, we’ll try to give our best,” Kishan said after the innings.

Notably, the victor of this semifinal will advance to the grand finale, where they will play New Zealand in the championship match on Sunday, March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
