Yuzvendra Chahal of Punjab Kings celebrates after dismissing Suryakumar Yadav of Mumbai Indians during the 2025 IPL Qualifier 2 match

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have shown some outstanding cricket in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. They are the only side yet to lose a game and have won six out of seven games they have played. Punjab Kings’ owner Preity Zinta has been at the stadium for almost every match that the Shreyas Iyer-coached team has played. She must be over the moon to see her team’s performance since the beginning of the last season.

The Bollywood star on Monday, April 27, began an interactive session on her official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) account. The session was visited by Yuzvendra Chahal, who is a key player of the Punjab Kings team, asking for the chance to open the batting for one match.

“Ma’am, if I get an opportunity to open the batting in one match (Ma’am, if I can open the batting in one match),” Chahal said.

In the seven games played so far in IPL 2026, Chahal has claimed four wickets. The most successful wicket-taker in the history of the richest cricket league has an appalling average of 51.25 and his economy rate of 9.76 is also high. But in the run-up to the play-offs and finally the finals, Chahal’s form is going to be pivotal for the Kings.

Marcus Stoinis and Shashank Singh helped their team finish strong

Punjab will be feeling pretty good about themselves after they chased down their own record for the highest successful run chase in T20 cricket. They did so in the final game against the Delhi Capitals chasing a 265-run target with five wickets and seven balls remaining at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The Punjab Kings will be back in action on Tuesday, April 28 against the Rajasthan Royals in New Chandigarh.
