Ravichandran Ashwin, having retired in the Indian Premier League, has been undertaking online coverage analysis of the news concerning cricket in the world. As the IPL 2026 mini auctions of players retention deadline of November 15, there are already franchise exchanges between players of other teams, the most popular ones being that involving Sanju Samson, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sam Curran.
Nonetheless, Ravichandran Ashwin has shared another secret conversation between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants between Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar. According to Ashwin, the five-time champions bought Shardul Thakur by trading in Chahar to LSG since the latter is an injury prone substitute in the squad.

“Mumbai Indians will not release anyone. The biggest factor for them is Deepak Chahar, who is a bit injury prone, they have secured Shardul Thakur on a trade from LSG as his replacement. The deal is done now. MI may need another spinner, but they will find that too very easily,” Ashwin said in a now deleted segment in a video on his YouTube channel.

However, a popular media outlet made a claim that differed slightly from Ashwin’s claim in his video. According to Cricbuzz, LSG and MI are in talks over a cash deal for Shardul Thakur and Arjun Tendulkar. However, these transactions are classified as distinct financial dealings rather than straight player swaps.
In terms of retentions, the IPL governing council has allowed the franchises a deadline of November 15 to ensure that their deals are sealed and that they have their retentions fixed in the next season which would be in 2026. The mini auction will be held on December 27 and will make the cricket fans thrilled with the drama up to the next edition of the popular competition that is quite profitable.
