B Sai Sudharsan, a top-order batsman, has been ruled out for the remainder of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 after suffering a rib fracture. The injury occurred while the batter was diving to complete a run during the Round 1 Elite Group A match between Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh at the Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad.
Sudharsan was subsequently put under monitoring. Subsequent scans disclosed a narrow section of undisplaced fracture of the anterior cortex of the right seventh rib. He was thus ruled out of the next three rounds for the current edition of the ongoing 50-over competition and is now expected to stay on the sidelines for the remainder of a start-stop season for Tamil Nadu.
Recovery Currankurup played at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence after recovery from this injury and this is how he traced that. The southpaw – who debuted in the middle of 2025 – is now on his way to recovery in Bengaluru, where he is working on getting a stronger lower half. He will soon start upper body strength and conditioning resources to maintain his recovery, and a return to cricket.

“Sai is undertaking lower-body strength and conditioning work with appropriate protection to the injured rib to facilitate healing, and he has responded well to the program. Upper-body training will be introduced once acute symptoms settle over the next seven to ten days, following which he will be gradually progressed into a structured upper-body strength and conditioning program,” CoE reported.
Sai Sudharsan to play for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026

In spite of the injury, Sudharsan is believed to have recovered in time to complete the Ranji Trophy and then represent his team 2026 Indian Premier League. He bagged last season’s Orange Cap for the Gujarat Titans and the franchise will hope he gets well soon. The opener was one of several players retained by 2022 champions and will look to make an impact in the next edition as well.
