Ricky Ponting, the former captain of Australia rated the best in the campaign of the T20 world cup, which was going to be hosted in India and Sri Lanka. The 10 th edition of the tournament was blessed with some few outstanding performers with bat and ball alike as they tried to adjust with the subcontinent conditions.
Wicket-keeper, Sanju Samson, of the Indian cricket team became the winner of the player of the tournament award due to his outstanding performances during the second half of the campaign. The rest of the award nominees were made up of players who are mainly Pakistani, New Zealand, English and South African.
Ricky Ponting also named the five best performers of the tournament, where Will Jacks of England got his rating of 10. The next two were occupied by two Indian players, Sanju Samson and Jasprit Bumrah, whose joint score was almost perfect (9.5).
Sanju Samson became the highest run-getter in India, and overall third best in the tournament. Instead Jasprit Bumrah finished as the tied-top wicket-taker of the tournament with his four-fer in the final against New Zealand.
The next to come were the opening batters of Tim Seifert and Sahibzada Farhan, as they were the top two in the run charts. The wicket-keeper of the New Zealand team got 9 out of 10, and the Pakistan opener got 8.5.
Will Jacks overall performed well in his new position as a finisher and spinner in the T20 world cup. The all rounder became the player of the match in four of the eight matches that England played at the competition.
