India's Rohit Sharma (R) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (L) run between the wickets during the third one-day international (ODI) cricket match

Rohit Sharma, Team India’s batting phenomenon, trolled Yashasvi Jaiswal during his century in the third One-Day International against South Africa in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, December 6. Rohit seemed to take a playful dig at the southpaw’s confidence while he scored 75 runs.

Having not crossed 30 in the first two games of the series, Jaiswal scored his maiden ODI century to finish unbeaten on 116 as the hosts chased down the target with nine wickets in hand. He put on a 116-run stand with Virat Kohli for the second wicket.

In a video shared by the Indian team on Instagram, Rohit was seen informing head coach Gautam Gambhir with exaggerated hand gestures:

India’s Rohit Sharma celebrates after scoring a half-century (50 runs) during the first one-day international (ODI) cricket match

“70 tak. Jaise 75 dikhega. Bhai sahab comfortable dikhe. (He looked quite comfortable after reaching 75.)”

In response, Jaiswal said:

“Bhaiya bole khel 50 tak. Uske baad maar. (Brother told me try to play cautiously until 50 and keep dishing out the big hits.)”

“I always dreamt of this that one day I will have a century for India in ODIs” – Yashasvi Jaiswal

India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal celebrates after scoring a century (100 runs) during the third one-day international (ODI) cricket match

Yashasvi Jaiswal thanked the senior players on the team for their support amid his hardships. He added:

“Very special. I’m very happy and grateful and blessed. It’s very emotional for me because I always dreamt of this that one day I will have a century for India in ODIs. So, I made it. It’s really important because I was trying so hard to convert those starts but I couldn’t. The same thing I was thinking, the minute I’ll come and get set, I’ll make sure that I’ll play as deep as possible and make sure to finish the game. I’m so blessed to have my seniors, the way they have been talking to me when I’m not doing well. Genuinely, I feel blessed to play with them.”

India’s Virat Kohli looks on during the third one-day international (ODI) cricket match

Virat Kohli received the Player of the Series award after scoring 302 runs in three innings.
