Young Bats Rajasthan Royals (RR) openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi wowed the spectators with their scorcher batting in the IPL 2026 game against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on Tuesday, April 7. Rain had caused the game to be cut to 11-over-a-side.
The rain gods relented after a long time but it was raining sixes when asked to bat first RR. The innings kicked off with Jaiswal smashing 22 runs from the opening over off Deepak Chahar’s bowling.
Hardik Pandya, the MI skipper, then unleashed his pace weapon Jasprit Bumrah into the attack. But it was not to be and Vaibhav Suryavanshi greeted the speedster with a first ball six.

The RR openers had a score of 59 runs in the 3.2-over powerplay. The two left-handed batters added 80 runs off just 30 balls for the first wicket. The reaction of some of their fans to their stand on X:

Shardul Thakur breaks RR’s opening partnership after conceding 18 runs in fifth over

Shardul Thakur, who is a MI pacer, broke the threatening first-wicket partnership to take the first wicket of his team. He got off to a bad start and was struck by Vaibhav Suryavanshi two sixes and one four.
But he was able to achieve the breakthrough on the last ball of the over. Suryavanshi went for another big one on the off side. He seemed to have hit it quite well, but didn’t get the elevation and was caught by Tilak Varma at deep extra cover.
The 15-year-old also scored 39 off 14 balls and had five sixes and a four, and he had a staggering strike rate of 278.57. RR went on to score 150/3 in 11 overs. Jaiswal performed best with the bat as he was not beaten and he scored 77 on 32 balls. Skipper Riyan Parag contributed with a 20-run cameo out of 10 balls. Allah Ghazanfar picked up two wickets for MI.
