The Royal Challengers Bengaluru had reached a colossal 250/3 by the close of their innings having been batted by the Chennai Super Kings at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.
Rajat Patidar took on board 48 unbeaten with 19 balls, Devdutt Padikkal recorded his second half-century, and Phil Salt made 46, but the light of the day was Tim David, who made 70 off 25 balls. Entering the bat in the 15 th over, David mowed down the Chennai bowlers and sent them scurrying in a terrible hitting show.
Eight giant sixes were struck in his innings, the most remarkable being one off the bowing of Jamie Overton in the last ball of the 19th over. With three sixes already off the over and having already nicked off 24 runs, David pulled a short ball, which crashed a huge 106 metres over mid-wicket and landed on the roof of the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The fear-eats-the-soul Aussie used 30 of the over, four of those being sixes, and three of those being three balls in a row.
