Virat Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opener, brought the Indian Premier League 2026 to life with a gorgeous no-look six against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, April 5 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
It happened during the fourth over when CSK pacer Matt Henry threw a length ball outside off stump. Virat Kohli boldly came forward and flicked it across mid-wicket with an easy timing. The only thing that was remarkable about the shot was that he remained calm, he did not even look at the ball once he had hit it, he just looked later to see the ball fly far into the stands. With a crash the crowd burst into applause, and one of the most fashionable strokes of the season was made.
Kohli made a brisk contribution of 28 off 18 balls, with a striking rate of 155.56, and two boundaries and the infamous six. He had already impressed in the tournament with a 69 not out of 38 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which took RCB to win the first match.

Devdutt Padikkal started the momentum with a flowing 50 of 29 balls with five fours and two sixes. Skipper Rajat Patidar and Tim David later supported him well and forged a partnership of 99 runs against the fourth wicket that was devastating.
Rajat Patidar was also unbeaten on 48 with only 19 hits, hitting six sixes and a four, whereas David had scored a fantastic cameo of 70 not out, with eight sixes, of 25 balls. Their late attack made RCB record one of the biggest totals of the season.
For Chennai Super Kings, Khaleel Ahmed delivered an economical spell; however, bowlers like Anshul Kamboj, Jamie Overton, and Shivam Dube struggled to contain the scoring despite picking up a wicket each.
Meanwhile, the result piled further pressure on CSK, who slumped to two consecutive defeats. In contrast, Royal Challengers Bengaluru seized the opportunity to build momentum, registering a commanding win in just their second match of the season.
