Shimron Hetmyer (52) and Sanju Samson (41) battled for the Royals in the batting department but had little assistance from others.

At the post-match ceremony, Sai Sudharsan was named Player of the Match for his outstanding knock in the opening inning. The GT opener reflected on his batting performance by saying:
“I play this tournament with momentum. It is always a joy to contribute and win the game. The wicket was slightly seaming a bit, made use of the second half of the powerplay, and with wickets in hand, it played well. There is more awareness about what we have to do when we lose an early wicket.”
