On Tuesday (August 12), South Africa beat Australia by 53 runs in the second match of the series at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin. Thus the visiting side levelled the three-match series at 1-1.
In the match, Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and decided to put the opposition to bat first. A red-hot century by Dewald Brevis (125*) took South Africa to a commanding score of 218/7 in the first innings. The bowling hero of the home team was left-arm paceman Ben Dwarshuis who went 4- 0-24-2.
The Australian batting line-up could not find the right combination in the hard-chased 219-run chase and this brought defeat. Tim David also scored a blistering half-century, but the other batsmen failed and the hosts were bowled out after scoring 165 losing by 53 runs. Corbin Bosch and Kwena Maphaka, the bowlers of the Proteas took three wickets each.

South Africa skipper Aiden Markram was pleased with his team’s overall performance in the second T20I during the post-match presentation. Reflecting on the triumph, Markram stated:
“Nice to take it to the third game! A much better display from us in all three departments. Yes, Dewald Brevis’ innings was right up there! We were having a laugh about how good a ball-striker he is!
