The new President of Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad is the new President of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), as he was elected without opposition. This was developed prior to the slated elections on December 7 after the rejection and withdrawal of the competing candidacy. The re-entry of Prasad into KSCA administration is a watershed moment of the association since it was 12 years since he was the last person to hold office as the vice president of the association.
The Karnataka High Court recently intervened to resolve internal issues inside the KSCA, ordering that presidential elections be place on December 7. The court also ordered that the election be conducted in full accordance with the association’s bylaws and the Supreme Court’s recommendations. On November 24, the nominations were scrutinized in accordance with these directions.
Nominations of president were first made by two candidates; Prasad and K.N. Shanth Kumar. Shanth Kumar, representing the so-called Team Brijesh, is a leader of the administration of Karnataka cricket and the president of the DH and PV Sports Club. Nevertheless, in the course of examination, his candidacy documents were declared not to be seen as valid due to the inability to pay the yearly contribution of the club 4 years, and this is contrary to the statutes of KSCA. Prasad was the sole qualified candidate left by this disqualification.
Prasad previously served as KSCA vice-president from 2010 to 2013

Other nominations for various positions were also impacted. Members of Prasad’s own faction, including Dr. Srikanth Rai and Mruthyunjaya, had their papers nullified due to unpaid dues and a lack of documents. Meanwhile, Kalpana Venkatachar, a significant potential competitor, willingly withdrew her nomination out of respect for Prasad.
Electoral Officer Dr. B. Basavaraju (IAS Retd.) finalised the candidate list at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in accordance with High Court orders. The method confirmed that the presidential race was basically over before election day.
Venkatesh Prasad, who had served as KSCA vice-president from 2010 to 2013 under president Anil Kumble and secretary Javagal Srinath, is now returning to cricket administration after a 12-year absence. He takes on the post at a time when the KSCA’s leadership has been called into question for issues such as administrative disagreements, delayed elections, and the impact from the stampede at Chinnaswamy Stadium earlier in the year. During a recent press conference, Prasad chastised the previous leadership, K. Brijesh Patel’s side, for mismanagement and insufficient focus on cricket growth despite financial stability.
