Pakistan opener Saim Ayub’s struggles with the bat continued as he recorded his fourth duck in six innings during the Super Four clash against Bangladesh in the 2025 Asia Cup in Dubai. The left-hander was dismissed early once again, failing to make an impact for his team.
Facing off-spinner Mahedi Hasan in just the second over, Sam Ayub went down the track but missed the ball, offering an easy catch to Rishad Hossain at mid-on. His dismissal left Pakistan struggling at 5 for 2 inside two overs. This marked Ayub’s ninth duck in 45 T20I innings, placing him second on Pakistan’s all-time list behind Umar Akmal, and his sixth duck in 2025 alone, equalling Zimbabwe’s Richard Ngarava for the most in a single year.

Saim Ayub’s Asia Cup 2025 has been disappointing. After scoring golden ducks against Oman and India in the group stage, and a two-ball duck versus UAE, he added another three-ball duck against Bangladesh. His only notable contribution in the tournament was a 21-run knock against India, while his other innings yielded just two runs in total.
Pakistan collapses to 135/8 as Bangladesh dominate Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match
Pakistan’s first innings also struggled. Sent in to bat, they managed only 135 for 8 in 20 overs. Taskin Ahmed gave Bangladesh a strong start by dismissing Sahibzada Farhan for four in the first over. Ayub was out soon after, followed by Fakhar Zaman, who scored just 13 off 20 balls before falling to Rishad Hossain.

At the midway stage, Pakistan had lost 33/4. Hussain Talat (3 off 7) and Skipper Salman Agha (19 off 23) attempted to hold the innings together and late innings of Mohammad Haris (31 off 23) and Mohammad Nawaz (25 off 15) helped push the figure above 130. Shaheen Shah Afridi contributed 19, and Taskin had 3 out of 28, with Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain taking two each.
