Sanju Samson reached his second hundred of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) due to the final ball of the first part of the game being a four off Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede stadium.
Faced with the task of being an opener with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Samson punched the entire 20 overs without being bowled and with an unbeaten 101 off 54 balls benefiting with 10 fours and six sixes in the process.
With 85 when 19 overs had been completed, Samson turned to Kris Bhagat and he hit 16 in the six that followed to give him his fifth IPL hundred. The wicketkeeperbatter struck two sixes, on the first and first ball of the 20th over, and pulled a short ball to the deep square leg boundary to score triple figures.

Many MI players, including Jasprit Bumrah and India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, walked in to congratulate Samson. The 31 year old has now made two hundreds out of his seven matches in a CSK shirt. His first century in his new team was against the Delhi Capitals where he posted an unbeaten 115 at the M. A. chidambaram stadium to earn the victory over his team.
