Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru owner Vijay Mallya congratulated the RCB Women’s team on their winning WPL 2026 campaign, describing their achievement as both well-earned and inspirational. Mallya complimented the team for winning their second Women’s Premier League title, calling the victory a source of pride for the RCB franchise.
“Heartiest congratulations to the RCB women’s WPL team. Two championships in succession. Well deserved and well won. Motivation to the RCB Men’s team as well to retain the trophy.” Mallya wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
He acknowledged the team’s consistency and supremacy throughout the season. His statement also conveyed a broader sense, with the previous owner hoping that the women’s win would inspire the RCB men’s team to defend their crown in their separate tournament.
Last year, Rajat Patidar led RCB to their first IPL title after an 18-year wait. Bengaluru dominated the season and finished with a dominant victory over the Punjab Kings in the final, marking a historic moment for the franchise.
RCB Women won their latest WPL title in a high-octane final that demonstrated their composure under pressure. Chasing a challenging aim of 204, Grace Harris’ early defeat rattled them briefly, but they responded with a dominant reversal spearheaded by captain Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll.
Mandhana set the tone with a scorching 87 off 41 balls, while Voll led the chase with a controlled 79 off 54 deliveries. Their duo demolished Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack and kept RCB solidly in control of the chase. Radha Yadav later added the finishing touches to secure the victory.
Earlier, the Delhi Capitals put up a good total with to smooth strokes from skipper Jemimah Rodrigues, who struck 57 off 37 balls, and Laura Wolvaardt, who added 44 off 25 before giving late momentum with a quick 35 off 15. Despite their strong platform, DC were unable to contain RCB’s batting attack.
The win was RCB’s second WPL title, following their first in 2024, and it confirmed their burgeoning reputation as one of the league’s most successful clubs in its short history.
