The relationship between Sunil Chhetri, India’s most famous football player, and the cricketing superstar Virat Kohli is quite a well-known one. The friendship has grown between the two where there is great brotherhood between them which crosses the boundaries of their sports. The two still talk extensively and Chhetri has lately stated that he is astonished by the fact that Virat is obsessed with fitness even though he is ranked among the top 50 cricketing players in the world.
In London, England, where he presently resides with his family, Virat just completed a required fitness evaluation. All players were required to do the exams, and since the New Delhi native was unable to attend the BCC’s Centre of Excellence facility in Bengaluru, he had his tests completed in England. He then shared the results with Chhetri.

“A few days back, he (Kohli) was sending me his scores of one of the tests he was doing. It is so addictive, and it is so good to know these kinds of people. On your bad days, when you feel a bit lethargic, you see them and think, ‘let’s go’. When you are at the top, everyone wants to be a Virat Kohli or a Ronaldo, and for these two to keep their place is unbelievable,” Chhetri revealed via the DesiPL podcast as quoted by Indian Express.
“I don’t know Ronaldo personally. I have watched him, studied him. I know Virat (Kohli). The one common thing about these two is that they are just not happy with what they have already achieved. I tried in my whatever way to inculcate the same thing because once when you start getting into that circle where you start thinking about what you have done, good or bad, then you are not in the same track that you want to be.”

The ODI series against Australia Down Under, which begins in October, will mark the 36-year-old’s return to cricket action. Virat Kohli will only play 50-over internationals for the Men in Blue after the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will take place in Africa. He is retired from Test and T20 internationals.
