Flying Salt: Phil Salt completed a stunning relay catch

At the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, Phil Salt and Tim David of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pulled off a spectacular catch in the last over of their IPL 2025 match against the Mumbai Indians. David’s catch and salt stopped the ball from crossing the fence, which is how Deepak Chahar was dismissed.

With the opening delivery of the 20th over, Krunal Pandya removed Mitchell Santner, and Chahar entered the crease. Pandya surprised Chahar by bowling a bouncer, which the bowler hooked in the direction of mid-wicket, where Salt made an amazing catch above his head.

However, the Englishman understood that his momentum was about to send him past the barrier, so he lobbed the ball to his buddy. It was a clean catch, and Chahar had to go for a golden duck after the third umpire had to take another look.

After hitting a boundary off the first ball he faced in the first innings, Salt had died off the second delivery of RCB’s innings. During the game, David faced just one ball and took a single.

RCB Clinch First Win Over Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Since 2015

Hardik Pandya struck two fours and two sixes in his first four balls

Despite losing three wickets in the first ten overs and having a daunting 222 to chase, the Mumbai Indians had enough firepower to win the match. With their thrilling knocks, Tilak Varma (56), and Hardik Pandya (42) brought energy to the game, but their exits made the home team’s task extremely difficult.

In the final over of the match Krunal obtained 4 wickets to seal victory with a 12-run margin for RCB; his total wicket count became 4-0-45-4. Rajat Patidar received the Player of the Match distinction after hitting 64 runs in 32 balls during the contest. After a successful batting performance Virat Kohli hit 67 runs from his 42 deliverables.

The Mumbai Indians suffered their first home defeat since 2015 against RCB. They had lost four times already this season.
