The player of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Virat Kohli, picked up the ball in place of the bat in the last club training session in Chinnaswamy Stadium to prepare the team to act in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The great player threw down, on the nets, a couple to his opening partner, Phil Salt. He also does medium pace right arm bowling on part time basis.
In the practice, Kohli who has not bowled in IPL in a decade bowled to Salt in order to get into his rhythm. RCB is currently preparing their season-opener game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) that is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 28.
In addition to praising Salt’s strokeplay, Kohli asked whether he would like more bouncers added to the mix. The England international just managed to duck beneath the legend’s blistering bouncer and gain an edge off his hanging bat. Check out Kohli’s bowling feats here:
Given their current pace bowling crisis, RCB could benefit from Virat Kohli’s bowling skills. Josh Hazlewood, who is awaiting clearance while recuperating from injury, will miss the first portion of the competition for the reigning champs. Similarly, Sri Lanka Cricket has not yet given Nuwan Thushara the No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Yash Dayal, a left-arm pacer, will also miss the full season due to a personal circumstance.
Virat Kohli’s last act with the ball had come at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in 2023
Virat Kohli has not rolled his arm over in a match since playing at the home stadium of RCB; Chinnaswamy Stadium when he was representing Team India. When India had already scored 410-4 in the first innings of its last league stage game in the 2023 ODI world cup with the Netherlands, then-skipper Rohit Sharma resorted to the star batsman.
Virat Kohli played his part in just three overs and conceded only 13 runs as he removed opposition captain Scott Edwards. On this occasion the excited mob had shouted Kohli ko bowling do (Give the bowling to Kohli).
