President Droupadi Murmu hails Indian Women’s team for historic World Cup victory

President Murmu hails India’s Women’s World Cup champions as symbols of unity, resilience, and new-age India.

On Thursday, November 6, the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, which won the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, paid a visit to President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President greeted each member of the team and praised them for making history with their stunning World Cup victory.

She admitted that this historic achievement is being celebrated by millions of Indians both locally and globally. By knocking off the seven-time world champions, Australia, who had never been defeated before, the Indian team has cemented the belief that the nation had in its abilities, as stressed by the President. She beat her such a stiff competition and won the final by a big margin and this is what she said about the greatness of Team India and how much they wanted to win.

“Members of the Indian Women Cricket team, winner of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President congratulated the team and said that they have created history and have become role models for younger generation. She said that this team reflects India. They represent different regions, different social backgrounds, different circumstances but they are one Team — India,” the President posted on X.

President Murmu Hails Women’s Team as Inspiring Role Models After Historic World Cup Win

The President has observed that members of the Indian Women Cricket Team have been role models to the younger generation and specifically females making them pursue their dreams with a lot of passion. She was very confident that the same qualities that made them win World Cup during their historic times would make Indian cricket move towards newer heights in the years to come.

Murmu also recognized that this journey to victory must have comprised of both times of hope and despair, and troubled nights. Nevertheless, the team has managed to pass through every challenge, which was evidence of their strength. She mentioned that after the major triumph over New Zealand, there was so much faith around the nation that despite the rise and falls of the game, the team will ultimately succeed.

President Murmu highlighted that the success of the team was based on their hard work, high skills, will and constant support and wishes of families and fans of cricket. She observed that in a team game such as cricket, all participants are supposed to be fully dedicated and in sync with the objectives of the group at any given time.

The President also realized the important services of the coaching staff that included head coach, bowling coach, fielding coach and support personnel. She wished the rest of the unit all the best as she hoped that they would go on to deliver even greater levels of excellence to Team India in the days to come.
