In the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), Mohammed Shami did not perform remarkably with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The right-arm bowler signed at the mega-auction at INR 10 crore, made only six wickets in nine matches after which he had an average of 56.17 and an economy rate of 11.23.
But, he had just come back after injury and could not find his rhythm and this is very essential among fast bowlers. Teams know the value of the player that he could be, this is why Sunrisers Hyderabad is being offered to bring him on board in the run up to IPL 2026.
Cricbuzz reports, the old India pacer has attracted the attention of the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and he is one of the most desired personalities in the upcoming season.

SRH will now consider whether to trade the pacer in an all-cash transaction or release him into the auction pool.
Mohammed Shami has been among the most outstanding bowlers in the IPL within the last few years. During two seasons (2022 and 2023), he played 33 matches in Gujarat Titans and took 48 wickets. He also got his first Purple Cap in his career in IPL 2023, as he had 28 wickets at an average of 18.64.

Mitchell Starc is very essential to the Delhi Capitals in the area of seam-bowling. Mukesh Kumar and Dushmantha Chameera failed to live their reputations. T Natarajan, however, had one game only. Should DC be able to sign Shami, they will have one of the strongest bowling lineups in the tournament along with the brilliant spinners, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam.
In the meantime, the Lucknow Super Giants faced an all-Indian bowling attack last season. Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, Prince Yadav and others couldn’t make much of an impact. The franchise has already traded Shardul Thakur to the Mumbai Indians. Adding someone like Shami would be a huge boost, as he would not only give the Rishabh Pant-led side one of the best bowlers in the world but also mentor the young pacers with his vast experience.
