Former Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara brother-in-law, Jeet Rasikbhai Pabari has committed suicide at his Rajkot residence on Wednesday. The Malviyanagar Police team took him to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body has been sent for post-mortem, and legal formalities are currently underway.
Interestingly, Jeet’s former fiancée had filed a rape case against him at Malviya Nagar Police Station exactly a year earlier, on November 26, 2024. The complaint accused him of forcing physical relations under the pretext of marriage. She claimed the incident occurred during their engagement and later led to its cancellation. The coincidence of dates has sparked speculation that ongoing legal pressure may have affected Jeet’s mental health.
According to police sources, an elaborate investigation is underway to find out what caused the suicide. The officers stated that Jeet had been fighting the case more than a year and he looked stressed out. But they also said that this real cause would be ascertained only on the post-mortem and subsequent investigations.
Jeet Pabari was a member of a famous family of Rajkot. The Pabaris started in Jamjodhpur, spent more than 20 years in Rajkot and own a cotton ginning enterprise. His father Rasikbhai Pabari is a businessman.

The tragedy has also hit Cheteshwar Pujara and his wife, who lost her younger brother in the unfortunate incident. Pooja was born in Gondal and described her family as closely knit, consisting of her younger brother and sister. She studied till Class 10 at Sophiya School in Abu, pursued further education in Ahmedabad, and later earned her Master’s degree from Bombay. Before marrying Cheteshwar, she had also worked at a multinational company for a year.
