Rishabh Pant of India waves after India won the third ODI between England and India

Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant paid a visit to MS Dhoni’s residence in Ranchi on Thursday (November 27), ahead of the ODI series against South Africa. The JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi is set to host the series opener on Sunday (November 30). Pant is currently in the city as part of India’s ODI squad.

His last appearance in action was at the beginning of this week when he headed the Indian Test team against South Africa. Nonetheless, it proved to be a dismal experience as the visitors crushed India by 408 runs by 2 goals to none, and whitewashed the Indian team. Pant will now move on to the series of ODI and would hope that he can rejoin the playing team with two vacancies to be filled.

On Thursday before the ODIs, Pant was seen going around the house of MS Dhoni in Ranchi. The two have a close relationship and have been caught together at various intimate parties throughout the years. Star Sports posted it on Instagram that provided the fans with an idea of their interaction.

Aakash Chopra Backs Rishabh Pant to Make India’s ODI Playing XI

Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has stated that only one of Rishabh Pant or Tilak Varma will be included in the playing XI during the forthcoming one-day international series against South Africa.

He suspected that team management could prefer Pant because he was a member of the Champions Trophy-winning squad. In his YouTube video, Chopra addressed the issue:

“The kind of cricket Tilak Varma has been playing, you start feeling that he should also play ODIs. But where will you play them? I don’t think he will be in the XI. One of him or Rishabh Pant will play. Pant was part of the Champions Trophy squad that India won.”

He continued:

“He did not play a game in the tournament, so on what basis will you drop him? He had to be there and I think he will be part of the playing XI. Pant might, in fact, take the gloves and KL Rahul might play as a pure batter as he will be leading this side.”
