Moments before South Africa’s chase in the second ODI in Raipur began, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant shared a joyous moment. The former India captain made a wish with his falling eyelash, which Pant presented to him.
Moments before India’s openers stepped on the field for their second innings, Rohit Sahrma and Pant were seen chatting informally around the boundary lines. Pant, who was not part of the playing XI for this match, found an eyelash on Rohit’s face. The wicketkeeper-batsman took it off Rohit’s eye, placed it on the back of his hand, and asked him to make a wish. Rohit, smiling at the act, closed his eyes for a few seconds before finishing the process.

Before a thrilling finale to this event, the hosts batted well after being sent in for the 20th time in ODIs. While Rohit made just 14 from eight balls, smashing three boundaries before getting out behind, the rest of the batting came good to help Men in Blue pile a big total.
The shining star was again Virat Kohli. In his usual red-hot form, he plundered 102 from 93 deliveries for his 53rd one-day century and second hundred in succession in the series. This inning gave him many records including the most ODI hundreds from a single batting position by going past Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli had good company in Ruturaj Gaikwad, who also scored his maiden hundred (105 off 83 balls). The two built a sizeable partnership in the middle overs, and took the hosts well past 250. Stand-in skipper KL Rahul top-scored with an unbeaten 66 from 43 balls as the side posted 358/5 in their allotted 50 overs.
During the mid-innings break, Rohit, the ambassador of the 2026 T20 World Cup, revealed India’s new T20I attire alongside BCCI officials and Tilak Varma. The new strip is blue with bright orange panels and a tricolour collar.
Rohit said he is hopeful of the team doing well in 2026 World T20 which India would host along with Sri Lanka.
