South Africa easily defeated India by 51 runs in the second T20I on Thursday, December 11, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. With the victory, the Proteas tied the five-game series 1-1 after two games.
After being invited to bat first, South Africa set the bar high by posting 213/4 on board, powered by veteran opener Quinton de Kock’s blistering knock of 90 (46) runs. Donovan Ferreira (30), David Miller (20) and Aiden Markram (29) chipped in with the bat for De Kock. Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy grabbed two wickets in the hosts’ first dig.

In reply, India’s batting failed them again as they were bowled out for 162 in 19.1 overs. Tilak Varma alone showed resistance, playing an exquisite knock of 62 (34), rest none gave much fight. The visitors’ best bowler was pacer Ottneil Baartman, with four wickets.
The second T20I between India and South Africa offered entertainment for supporters, who responded by tweeting humorous memes on X (previously known as Twitter). Here’s some of the best memes:

During the post-game presentation, South Africa captain Aiden Markram praised his teammates and expressed satisfaction with their performance. Reflecting on the triumph, Markram stated:
“Much better tonight. Started off with the bat with a special knock from Quinny (de Kock). Good contributions in the end to get us to a good score. The bowlers were good in the last game but even better today, trending in the right direction. Fielding has been good in both the games. Something for the bowlers if they put it in the right areas. The batters could put the bowlers under pressure if they got in. Great support for India, good game to be a part of.”
He continued:
“You as a player want to get 3-4 games on the run but building up to the World Cup with the SA20 coming up, the priority is to pick the best team for the WC . By the time the SA20 is done, we want to give the guys some gametime. You put your hand up to do whatever the job the team needs of you. We will reflect, my knock in the middle, I would like to maximize, we will look at the percentages and look to start afresh in Dharamsala.”

The third T20I of the five-match series will take place on Sunday, December 14; moreover, it will be held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
