England beat Nepal by four runs in the sixth match of the 2026 T20 World Cup on Sunday (February 8) at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. As a result, the Harry Brook-led team began to make progress in the Group C points table.
In the course of batting first, Jacob Bethell of England (55) and Harry Brook (53) made half-centuries to enable them reach 184/7 in 20 overs. They were aided by Will Jacks with an incandescent cameo of 39 (18) which added the finishing touches. In the bowling department Nepal had two wicket-takers, Dipendra Singh Airee and Nandan Yadav.

Rohit Paudel (39), Dipendra Singh Airee (44), Lokesh Bam (39) and Kushal Bhurtel (29) then offered their all to Nepal. They later lost by five runs and it was a sad loss. Sam Curran maintained his composure and massacred in the last few overs to end England with the win.

— Sagar (@sagarcasm) February 8, 2026 “Thankfully we got over the line” – Harry Brook after the win vs Nepal in 2026 T20 World Cup

During the post-match presentation, English captain Harry Brook commented on the hard-fought victory, saying:
“It wasn’t easy at all, but thankfully we got over the line. They played extremely well. Not many teams take Adil Rashid on the way they did, and I thought they played him outstandingly. They put us under pressure on quite a few occasions. I thought we were in a very good position to defend that. I didn’t think it would go quite as close as it did, but full credit to Nepal. They played brilliantly and I wish them all the best for the rest of the tournament.”
He continued:
“We didn’t quite get the rewards straight away, but we stuck to our plans and stayed calm. We’ve got plenty of options. Sam (Curran) bowled later than usual, and it’s not often Adil (Rashid) doesn’t bowl his full four, but it was just one of those days. I’m sure he’ll bounce back strongly. We were both very calm. We knew exactly what he was going to try, and he executed his skills brilliantly under pressure.”
