Zimbabwe will have Team India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday, February 26 in their second Super 8 match in the T20 World Cup 2026. The Men in Blue not only have to win the game, but they should also aim to have a big victory being the qualification to the semifinals; since net run rate may be the qualification to the semifinals.

Shubman Gill, who was dropped from the ongoing T20 World Cup for Team India, hit 66 off 49 balls against Zimbabwe at Harare in July 2024. Gill’s innings was in the third T20I of the five-match series and, ultimately, India won the match by 23 runs.

In the contest, Team India won the toss and opted to bat first. Gill, who was the captain in the side, smashed seven fours and three sixes during his sublime innings. He shared a 67-run stand for the first wicket with Yashasvi Jaiswal (36 off 27) and a mere 72 runs for the third wicket with Ruturaj Gaikwad (49 off 28).

Gill’s elegant innings ended when he lost his shape and miscuing one off Blessing Muzabarani to be caught. India then scored 182-4 and easily won the game as Zimbabwe replied with 159-6, despite a solid 65 from Dion Myers off just 49 balls.

4. Suresh Raina (72* in 44) vs. Harare – June 2010

The first came when former India batter Suresh Raina blasted an unbeaten 72 off 44 balls against Zimbabwe in Harare in June 2010. This was the second T20I of the two-match series. The Men in Blue eventually won the match by seven wickets.

In this match, India tossed the coin and fielded first. Zimbabwe finished at 140-5 in their 20 overs and the Men in Blue chased down the total in just 18 overs. Coming in at No. 3, Raina, the captain of India for this match as well, belted six fours and two sixes. The left-handed batsman shared a partnership of 79 with Murali Vijay (46 off 39) for the second wicket as the side chasing got home comfortably.

3. Ruturaj Gaikwad 77*(47) Harare, July 2024

In the second T20I of a five-match series in July 2024, Gaikwad lit up Harare with an awesome knock of 77* runs off just 44 balls against Zimbabwe. India beat the hosts by 100 runs in that game. India scored 234-2 in their 20 overs after batting first, and bowled out Zimbabwe for 134 in 18.4 overs.

Batting at No. 3, Gaikwad hit 11 fours and a six in his innings. He put on 137 runs for the second wicket with Abhishek Sharma (100 off 47) and an unbroken 87 runs for the third wicket with Rinku Singh (48* off 22). Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan took three wickets each with the ball for India.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal (93* off 53) Harare – July 2024

That score comes just a month after young opening batter Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 93 off 53 in Harare against Zimbabwe (July 2024). The left-hander’s explosive knock came in the fourth T20I of the five-match series. The Men in Blue then chased down the target by 10 wickets and won the series 3-1.

The left-armer has found the going tough in the tournament, managing just 15 runs in four innings.

Abhishek’s IPL 100 took just the second T20I of a five-match series, off 47 balls against Zimbabwe in Harare, July, 2024. In this match India batted first and scored 234-2. Abhishek Sharma smacked a stunning knock with seven fours and eight sixes as India scored a 100-run win. He was out straight after reaching his hundred, caught at short third off Wellington Masakadza.
