Shivam Dube has just explained why he decided to ride an AC train a third time rather than wait until the Team India airplane comes back home after the 2026 T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad. The Suryakumar Yadav-led team secured the much-desired trophy after beating New Zealand in the final on March 8, in good part, due to the spectacular performance of the Indian all-rounder.
Shivam Dube, the one who was in the city of Ahmedabad with his wife, commented on how he was excited to see his father and children in Mumbai. That is the reason why the 32-year-old took the train home.
“Ghar jaake mujhe apne bachche aur apne papa se milne ki kaafi anxiety ho rahi thi… isliye main subah-subah ghar chala aaya. Wait, hi nahi ho raha tha (I was feeling anxious to meet my child and my father at home… that is why I left early in the morning. I just could not wait),” Dube was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.

According to Dube, he had to decide between taking a train or driving because there were no planes available in the morning. He ultimately decided on the latter because it was faster.
“There were no flights available, so I decided to take an early morning train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. We could have gone by road, but the train was quicker,” Dube explained.

Dube added that after learning that he would be traveling by train, his friends and well-wishers were concerned. There would have been utter commotion if the southpaw had been discovered on the train or at the platform.
“Everyone we spoke to-family and friends-was worried. They kept asking, ‘What if someone recognises you at the station or on the train?'” Dube said.
To conceal his identity, Dube wore sunglasses, a mask, and a full-sleeved T-shirt. In the hopes that the platform would be less congested at that time, he also deliberately decided to depart at 5:10 am.
“I told my wife I would wait in the car until five minutes before the train’s departure, then rush to board,” he added.
