Tristan Stubbs played a mature hand for Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals (DC) got the better of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, April 1, in a low-scoring encounter. Although the play on the field was rough, spectators of both teams engaged in a fight, which led to an outburst before the police arrived to calm the situation.

The distasteful scenario was that of two groups fighting in a fistfight. After the end of the match, a video of the melee was spread on the social media. One of the policemen came in the fray and defused the situation before it could escalate to disastrous levels.

Take a look at the video below:

At the match, DC won the toss by Axar Patel who decided to bowl first. Home side lost their skipper, Rishabh Pant, at a very early stage due to a bad run out at the non striker end. Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram however put the ship on track with a stable partnership.

Abdul Samad accelerated in the death overs

The Capitals continued to nibble at the wickets, particularly following the power play and the hosts lost half the side at 71 runs in 9.3 overs. Abdul Samad also played an important role of 36 as he was well supported by Mukul Choudhary and Shahbaz Ahmed. The LSG innings was however cut short by the bowling out of the LSG which had reached 141.4 overs.

Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan bowled superb spells on behalf of the Capitals as they took three wickets each. Two scalps were contributed by Kuldeep Yadav.

In response, Mohammed Shami hit on the opening ball in favor of Lucknow as he dismissed KL Rahul. Other casualties of the power play were Nitish Rana, Pathum Nissanka and Axar Patel who were dismissed when the Capitals had reached 26/4.

Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi stitched together an important partnership

Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs combined and held the LSG bowlers at bay through some tough batting. They finally tacked on to this an unmatched streak of 119 runs off 76 balls to bring their squad home. Rizvi scored the highest of 70 with 47 balls, and Stubbs scored 39 with 32 deliveries. The Capitals won by six wickets within 17.1 overs.
