Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 27-runs in a rain-disrupted game at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on Tuesday, April 7, in the current IPL 2026. The game was reduced to 11 overs per side after a hailstorm.
RR were on the offensive having been sent to bat first. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi started off with a blistering 80-run partnership in 30 balls. Jaiswal scored his 17th IPL half-century, unbeaten on 77 off 32 balls, Suryavanshi 39 off 14.
The two assisted Rajasthan to score 150/3 in 11 overs. Allah Ghazanfar and Shardul Thakur picked up two and one wickets, respectively. Hardik Pandya, who was bowling as Skipper, gave away a decent spell of two overs, 17 runs, in the carnage.
Their backs were to the wall as MI lost three wickets in the 3.2-over powerplay. Naman Dhir and Sherfane Rutherford contributed cameos, but the visiting side eventually lost, as they ended with a score of 123/9 in the 11th over. Ravi Bishnoi, Nandre Burger and Sandeep Sharma grabbed two wickets each.
RR have started their IPL 2026 campaign by winning three matches in a row and they are the table toppers. MI have gone backward following a six-wicket triumph over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their very first game. Having a single victory in three outings, they are ranked 7th.
In this case, we consider three moments of the contest that created a buzz among the fans:
3. RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal takes Deepak Chahar down on the first over.

Yashasvi Jaiswal came out all guns blazing in the encounter. The first over was started by Deepak Chahar giving out a short ball. The southpaw had the length selected early, and sent it off with the pull.
Chahar alter-egged, went full on the next ball. But it was not to be as Jaiswal hit it across the mid-wicket fence as a six. The onslaught continued with the batter scoring three more fours in the rest of the balls to end the over with 22 runs.
2. Dhruv Jurel takes stunning catch to dismiss Ryan Rickelton

Ryan Rickelton, MI opener, hit a powerful six over mid-wicket by Jofra Archer in the first over of the run chase. The rashster had the upper hand, as he rejected the left-hand batter the second ball of the next delivery.
Rickelton struck another great hit to the leg side. However, he ended up top-edging it high in the air. Dhruv Jurel, the wicketkeeper, sprinted back in order to receive the ball under it and made a catch that the batter had just scored eight out of four balls.
1. Vaibhav Suryavanshi comes out on top in mini-battle with Jasprit Bumrah

In a remarkable moment, 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi faced Jasprit Bumrah in his very first Indian Premier League match. Notably, the youngster showed no signs of pressure and welcomed the ace pacer with a towering six over long-on.
Meanwhile, Bumrah simply smiled, turned around, and walked back to his mark, acknowledging the audacity. Moreover, Suryavanshi continued his fearless approach, smashing another six in the same over with a powerful pull over deep square leg.
