Angkrish Raghuvanshi reacts after his dismissal

Angkrish Raghuvanshi, a batter for Kolkata Knight Riders, has paid 20% of his match fee and received a one-point demerit for violation of Level 1 of the Indian Premier League Cod e of Conduct during the game against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday April 26.

Raghuvanshi was penalised for his strong response to a controversial dismissal for obstructing in the fifth over. Field umpires Keyur Kelkar and Abhijeet Bengeri referred the appeal to the third umpire following a mid-on throw which hit Raghuvanshi on his dive back at the bowling end. The television umpire, Rohan Pandit, judged the batsman had made a considerable change in direction in coming back to the crease and upheld the appeal.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi was given out obstructing the field

Angkrish Raghuvanshi then had a lengthy conversation with the umpires, saying he needed room for a turn, and could not have made a 180 degree turn after aborting his run. He was seen on his way back to the pavilion, with anger evident, smacking the boundary cushion with his bat and throwing his helmet. KKR coach Abhishek Nayar was also seen in an heated discussion with the fourth umpires.

Raghuvanshi Fined for Code of Conduct Breach After KKR’s Super Over Victory

Raghuvanshi was fined by the IPL under its Code of Conduct, Article 2.2, for the misuse of cricket equipment or boundary fixtures. The league said he had hit the boundary cushion hard and subsequently thrown his helmet into the dugout. Raghuvanshi accepted responsibility for the offence, and accepted the penalty handed down by match referee Javagal Srinath.

Rinku Singh sealed the win in the Super Over

In the match, KKR won an exciting Super Over. They scored 155 in their 20 overs, thanks to a late surge from Rinku Singh, who was left unbeaten on 83. LSG faced setbacks in their pursuit, with regular wicket falls, but were kept alive by the late work from Ayush Badoni and Himmat Singh.
