Following Harry Brook’s withdrawal from the 2025 Indian Premier League, the Delhi Capitals’ think tank will be attempting to determine their next course of action. The Englishman stated that, apart from franchise cricket, he wants to focus on playing for his country.
Notably, Brook also withdrew from the tournament in 2024. He was acquired by the Capitals at the mega auction, but he will now miss his second straight season, which could end in an IPL ban.
Here are three players DC can sign to replace Brook as he exits the lucrative tournament:
1. Dewald Brevis
Dewald Brevis, a former Mumbai Indians cricketer and a rising Proteas talent, did not receive any bids during the IPL 2025 auction. His contributions led MI Cape Town to become champions in the SA20 2025 tournament.
Along with accumulating 291 runs Brevis maintained an average of 48.50 while keeping up a strike rate of 184 throughout the tournament. Brevis demonstrates his talent for completing matches through late-inning batting which makes him a necessary asset for DC’s batting formation.
Brevis is playing well and could be a nice choice for the Delhi Capitals.
2. Michael Bracewell
The recently finished Champions Trophy provided Michael Bracewell of New Zealand all-rounder fame with memorable cricket moments. The team reached the tournament final through his important contributions on the field after a successfull journey in the competition.
Michael Bracewell displayed vital batting and bowling abilities which established him as an authentic all-round player. At 34 years old Michael Bracewell reached 50 runs while taking two wickets which earned him a final match performance of 2/28 against Team India during the Champions Trophy 2025.
Bracewell will be a valuable all-round player for the Delhi Capitals who can contribute runs in the middle order and take wickets at key points in the match.
3. Gulbadin Naib
After defeating the Desert Vipers in the final, the Dubai Capitals just won the International League T20 (ILT20) championship. In terms of franchise cricket, this trophy was the first to be added to the Capitals’ cabinet.
Despite his poor performance in the final, Gulbadin Naib remained an essential member of the team. He was his team’s second-leading run scorer after Shai Hope and placed sixth on the tournament’s list of top scorers.
Similar to Bracewell, he will offer the team an all-around alternative by giving them a valuable bowler and a good middle-order batsman.
