The West Indies came under fire after losing the series 2-0 to India. The hosts were comfortable winners of both Tests, with even the briefest tremors of resistance coming from the visitors. During the series, West Indies head coach Daren Sammy thanked BCCI and Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir for their hospitality and help during their tour.

Sammy thanked the Indian board for arranging the matches in Ahmedabad and New Delhi and playing against a strong Indian side. He also admitted of having “learnt a lot from this loss” and lauded Gambhir for imparting his knowledge to the Windies players. “We’re just treating it as an off day, hopefully we can turn up and be better in Test cricket,” Sammy said.

“As we leave India, I’d like to thank BCCI for having us here and being a great host. Plenty lessons and learnings from this trip for my staff and players that we can apply both on and off the field. Special thanks to Gautam Gambhir for taking time after the test match to address my team with some heartfelt words. CWI will continue to find ways for us to improve and be better as a test playing nation in spite of all our different challenges. Till next year, next stop Bangladesh,” Sammy wrote on his official X handle (formerly Twitter).

John Campbell and Shai Hope put on West Indies’ highest partnership of the year so far.

The West Indies are yet to win a match in the current 2025–27 World Test Championship cycle. They had just endured a home whitewash at the hands of Australia, and then lost both Tests to India for five straight losses. Their next assignment is a three-match Test series with 2021 WTC winners New Zealand.

The West Indies are scheduled to fly out of India and on Sunday for a limited-overs series in Bangladesh following the India tour. The series will have three ODIs in Mirpur and three T20Is in Chattogram. The opening ODI is set for October 18 at the newly refurbished Shere Bangla National Stadium.
