The captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Rishabh Pant, gave Mumbai Indians (MI) star Rohit Sharma a comical backward embrace prior to Friday’s IPL 2025 match between the two teams at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Fans were left speechless by the pair’s amusing conversation in a video posted by the Mumbai Indians’ official social media account.
For a number of years, Rohit and Pant have played for India in a variety of formats and have a strong bond. With Rohit fielding and Pant keeping in the slips most of the time, the two continue to have pleasant interactions even while they are playing for the national team.
Watch the video that the Mumbai Indians (MI) posted, where the former captain said the following following a back-hug from the keeper-batter:
“Abhi mereko koi baat karne ki zarurat nahin hai. (Now I don’t need to talk about anything)”

Rishabh Pant is under a lot of pressure ahead of the Super Giants’ third game of the season since he hasn’t proven that his ₹27 crore price tag is justified. Along with a duck in Lucknow’s first game, the southpaw has only scored 17 runs in three games.
“Let’s not judge on a couple of low scores” – Rohit Sharma gets Kieron Pollard’s backing

The Mumbai Indians’ batting coach, Kieron Pollard, remarked that Rohit Sharma is a legend because of his capacity to overcome various obstacles, despite the fact that the 37-year-old is currently under a lot of pressure. Rohit has the right to enjoy cricket without feeling under pressure, he continued.
ESPNCricinfo cites Pollard’s statement during the news conference:
“I’ve played alongside Rohit since Under-19 cricket and he has forged his name and etched his name in history in the record books, in different situations, different formats of the game. He is a legend of the game in his own right, and as an individual as well. There are times when you have a couple of low scores … he has earned the right as an individual to now enjoy his cricket and not be pressurised in certain situations. So let’s not judge on a couple of low scores. In cricket, we know we fail more than we succeed and I’m sure we’ll be singing his praises when he gives us that big score and then we’ll be on to the next hot topic.”

In their first three games, the Mumbai Indians and the Lucknow Super Giants have both suffered two defeats.
