India won a record run-chase against Australia in the second semi-final of the Women’s World Cup 2025, leading Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues to lose control of their emotions at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The third wicket of 167 off 156 was also the wake-up call by the duo.
When Amanjot Kaur struck a boundary in the backward point area, the Indian team ran out to the field. Jemimah dropped at the pitch on her knees and her eyes had tears. She could only shed tears to the extent that she took off her helmet a few moments after she had stood on the ground to get a glimpse of the situation.

— Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) October 30, 2025 The greatest run chase in the history of women’s cricket and all credit goes to Jemimah Rodrigues. An innings of a lifetime by her. pic.twitter.com/wV9jP606je
— ADITYA (@Wxtreme10) October 30, 2025 Meanwhile, Harmanpreet appeared to be inconsolable. She was observed being consoled by head coach Amol Muzumdar near the dugout. Cameras panned all around her because it was one of the first occasions Harmanpreet had been seen weeping. The remainder of the team appeared to be overjoyed with the results of the knockout match.

On Thursday, October 30, the Women in Blue shattered several records. One of them was the titanic collaboration between the captain and Jemimah. The 167-run partnership was the highest India had ever produced against Australia in the Women’s World Cup. This stand surpassed the one between Mithali Raj and Punam Raut in the 2017 episode.
India is now to meet South Africa in the final match in the same venue. The game will be played on November 2. One thing is definite, this time a new Women world cup winner is sure of coming out. The two teams have not managed to win the prestigious tournament a single time.
