Tim David, a batter for Australia and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), played a lighthearted practical joke on Virat Kohli, the star batsman for India. The event occurred on Sunday, April 13, following RCB’s victory over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 28th IPL 2025 match.
Among the numerous bats that Kohli had brought for the match, the Australian selected one and concealed it in his kit bag. David states in a video that the franchise uploaded to their official X account:
“I want to see how long it takes Virat to find out when we take one of his bats.”
In the dressing room, Virat Kohli searches for his bat and eventually locates it in David’s equipment bag, neatly wrapped and disguised. And David goes on:
“Virat was batting so nicely, so we just thought we’d see how long it takes him to realize one of his bats was missing. He didn’t, he was too happy with himself so I had to give it back to him. “

RCB chose to bowl first after winning the toss at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium to limit Rajasthan Royals batting performance which resulted in 173/4 runs before their 20 overs were completed as Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 75 runs from 47 balls. The wicket came to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Krunal Pandya and Yash Dayal and Josh Hazlewood for RCB.
After Phil Salt (65 off 33) and Virat Kohli (62* off 45) combined for 92 runs for the first wicket in the reply, Devdutt Padikkal (40* off 28) joined Kohli to make sure there were no more interruptions. With their fourth victory of the season, RCB easily won by nine wickets. Curiously, the Bangalore-based team has lost its home games while winning all of their road games.
