Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India in Test and One-Day International matches, sent a special message to Abhishek Nayar, the former assistant coach of India. When he returned to form in the current IPL 2025, the veteran hitter hailed Nayar.
After consecutive poor performances, Sharma’s form was scrutinized. He made amends, though, on Sunday, April 20, when MI defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by nine wickets at Wankhede Stadium with an incredible 76*-run knock off 45 balls.
Rohit Sharma thanked his longtime pal Nayar in an Instagram story following the game. He wrote:
“Thanks Bro!”

Nayar received the assistant coach position at the T20 World Cup due to Gautam Gambhir becoming the head coach. Under the Board of Control for Cricket in India Nayar received official termination from his position after serving eight months in the role.
After his dismissal from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) support staff Nayar took the position again during IPL 2025.
“It was necessary for him to score runs in this match” – Aakash Chopra on Rohit Sharma roaring back to form in IPL 2025

According to former India opener Aakash Chopra, Rohit Sharma’s form has become a major problem and he needed to perform well in the match against Chennai. After a strong start, he commended the star batsman for keeping his wicket.
On his YouTube channel, “Aakash Chopra,” Chopra conveyed his happiness at Sharma’s undefeated record and his team’s victory:
“If we look at it from his point of view, it was extremely ordinary. Even if we look at it from the point of view of any team’s opener, it was unacceptable. So, it was necessary for him to score runs in this match. He started well and played a few of his trademark shots. The thing I liked was that he didn’t throw away his wicket.”

“He stood till the end and kept hitting. He won the match by nine wickets, and he had a star against his name, which means the guy is a superstar. That was the important bit. He hit (Matheesha) Pathirana for sixes. Rohit coming in form is a huge story.”

In the IPL 2025, Rohit Sharma has amassed 158 runs at a strike rate of 154.90 and an average of 26.33 over seven innings.
