One of the IPL’s most memorable hundreds was blasted by Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the opener for the Rajasthan Royals. At the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday, he hit the three-figure mark off just 35 deliveries against the Gujarat Titans. With a huge six off Rashid Khan’s bowling, the left-handed hitter surpassed the milestone. Rahul Dravid, who was hurt, stood up from his wheelchair and joined the rest of the dugout in cheering.
The 14-year-old made his debut with a 20-ball 34 after igniting the largest T20 competition with a six off the first ball he faced in the IPL. But against the Titans, he went above and beyond, opening his account with a maximum off Mohammed Siraj’s bowling in the first over. In addition, Suryavanshi severely damaged Ishant Sharma, hitting the seasoned right-arm seamer for three sixes and a four in a single over.

Meanwhile, the young talent reached the century mark in the eleventh over of the innings, when he had 94 off 34 deliveries.

The opener became the youngest player to register a fifty and a ton in the history of the IPL with his 35-ball century, which is also the second-fastest in the competition’s history. He reached his 50th delivery in 17 deliveries, which is the quickest this year.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi dismissed for 101 by Prasidh Krishna

In the 12th over of the innings, right-arm speedster Prasidh Krishna’s yorker finally got rid of the southpaw for 101 off 38 balls. But at the time he died, Suryavanshi had left the Royals with just 44 deliveries left to win.
Riyan Parag put the Titans into bat after the toss went in his favor earlier in the evening. Before the latter was removed for 39, openers Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan put on another impressive display, stitching a partnership of 93 runs. Gill left for 84, missing out on a well-earned hundred. But the Titans reached a commanding 209/4 in 20 overs with to Jos Buttler’s undefeated 50.

The Royals are now sagging in ninth place in the points table, while the Titans are in second place. The Royals are all but eliminated from the tournament after seven defeats in nine games.
