SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, May 25, in match 68 of the ongoing IPL 2025. KKR suffered their heaviest league loss at the hands of SRH, who won by an overwhelming 110 runs.
SRH elected to bat first and got off to a flying start. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma set the stage fine, putting on 92 off just 42 deliveries.
Abhishek (32 off 16 balls) was derarted after a blistering cameo as Head notched his third half century of the season with 76 runs off 40 deliveries. Heinrich Klaasen scored a terrific 109 and set the stadium berating it with his all blazing century.

In just 37 balls, the daring batsman reached the 100-run milestone, breaking a new record for the second-fastest century by an overseas batter. With 105 runs off 39 deliveries, he remained undefeated and contributed to SRH’s commanding 278/3 in 20 overs. In the history of the competition, it is the third-highest team total.
Sunil Narine secured two wickets (mystery spinner) and Vaibhav Arora bagged one (pacer). With a decent couple of starts from a few KKR batters in the run chase, none could come close to converting them into big scores.
The top scorer for the side was Manish Pandey who made 37 runs off 23 balls. Harshit Rana also hit an entertaining 34 in 21 deliveries as fast bowler.

KKR were eventually bowled out for 168 in 18.4 overs. Harsh Dubey, Eshan Malinga, and Jaydev Unadkat each took three wickets. Klaasen’s brilliant batting performances earned him the Player of the Match title.
SRH had an impressive victory to end their campaign. With 13 points from 14 games, they are currently in sixth place in the standings. However, with 12 points from 14 games, KKR finished in eighth place.
On that topic, let’s look at three instances in the game that caused buzz among the fans:
1. KKR Mentor Dwayne Bravo Shocked as Vaibhav Arora Loses Wicket in Funny Way

KKR’s Vaibhav Arora was hit on the pad on just the fourth ball of the 18th over when he tried to play it across the line to a length delivery from Jaydev Unadkat. Harshit Rana, the non striker, was gone for a single.
Unadkat grabbed the ball and delivered a direct hit to the non-striker’s end. Arora ran lightly, trying to finish the run, not anticipating the throw.
He was run out in a strange manner, though, as the ball struck the stumps and he was caught short of his crease. A video of the dismissal can be found here:
Wait… What just happened there? 🤣😂#VaibhavArora gets run-out in a hilarious fashion! Definitely, one for the blooper books! 😌

Dwyane Bravo, the KKR mentor, covered his face with his palms in dismay, seemingly stunned by Arora’s carelessness.

2. SRH’s Ishan Kishan Hits Stunning Helicopter Shot for Six

Ishan Kishan entertained fans with a gorgeous shot to knock off KKR speedster Anrich Nortje in the 16th over. A low full toss to the leg stump to finish off the over was the fast bowler dished out.
The southpaw grabbed it swiftly and executed a great helicopter shot. In order to counter the ball and get past the deep midwicket fence for a six, he used his wrists.
A video of the shot may be seen here:

3. Heinrich Klaasen Shines Against Varun Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakaravarthy, a spinner for KKR, has had some success in the past against Heinrich Klaasen. The cunning bowler had already removed the South African keeper-batter three times in eight T20 innings prior to the just finished IPL encounter.
On this occasion, though, Klaasen defeated Chakaravarthy. The 33-year-old amassed 36 runs off 12 balls against the bowler, hitting three sixes and as many fours.

Chakaravarthy was taken to the dry cleaners by Klaasen, and the cunning spinner ended up with a miserable 3-0-54-0 record.
